Ann J. & Edward P. McKenna dedicated their lives in service to others, especially children.
The foundation is an extension of their example, empowering existing agencies to enhance their loving concerns and outreach.
Ann was raised in Haines Falls in the Catskills of Upstate New York. Edward was born in Ireland, raised in Brooklyn and met Ann on St. Patrick's Day 1949. Married in 1950, they raised 14 children with an extended family of dozens of grand and great-grandchildren, motivated by love and founded in the spiritual teachings of the Catholic church.
Ann's nursing profession started at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, transitioning to a career as an educator in public and Catholic schools. This was augmented by 40 years of volunteer service in Catholic religious education. Ann passed away on May 11, 2018.
Edward served the U.S. Army in WWII, the New York Police Department and the New York City Fire Department, where he retired as Lieutenant. He and Ann moved to California where he helped launch a newspaper printing supply business, serving accounts along the West Coast. Edward passed away on Labor Day 1992.
Ed was a daily role model of service, compassion and generosity. Ann served as Founder/Trustee of the foundation and will forever serve spiritually as the matriarch of the mission.
